What is this Rock?

Hello everyone

I found this stone in the middle of a sandy desert.  60cm long, 15cm wide, very heavy.  When I cut it in half, I was very surprised at all these pretty colors.  Which kind of stone is it?

Any idea?

It's strange, the outside sure looks like a log of wood, but the inside doesn't look like anything more than the quartzite as you say.

Are we looking at the outside and inside of the same piece in the 2nd pic?

What does the inside of the 1st piece look like (in pic 1)?

It looks a lot like Mookaite but that is only found in Australia I believe, so if it isn't wood of some kind I would say it is yellow and red Jasper. After a google I found that Mookaite is a type of Radiolarite which is a type of sedimentary rock. So this could be found in Oman I would guess?
