Fossil ID help

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I need your help if possible in identifying these 3 fossils I found this month at Manasota Key, FL.  They were found laying on top on the sand at the shoreline.  I have attached pictures and am labeling them (1) (2) and (3) starting from 1 to 10 on the measuring tape.

Thanks in advance for your help and knowledge!

Extremely water-worn chunks of bone? I'm not the expert, so wait for others to chime in. If they are fossil bone there's probably too much wear to determine what animal they came from.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Thank you for your input Mark! I find a lot of dugong rib bones in the same area as these, but these seem to be from a different animal.  I’m thinking the 3rd one may be a distal digit from a bison or similar grazing animal.  However, that’s a complete guess as I have no expertise either.
