Mark Kmiecik
Looks like a broken concretion in matrix to me, but I'm no expert. Wait for some others to chime in with more info. 2 Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
val horn
concretion is certainly possible but I wonder if it isnt a piece of a gastropod.

It does have a slight resemblance to a trans sectioned gastropod. Without a clearer indication I couldn't call it that however.
LauraT
If it helps, this was found in Turkey. When I first saw it I thought it was a half of a concretion also. This is a volcanic area so I know all kinds of weird things can happen with rocks… however the center seemed very suspicious to my very untrained eye. I know this part of Turkey was ocean millions of years ago and I found many different types of nummulite fossils in surrounding areas but never anything that looked like this. I really appreciate everyone’s thoughts and input! Thank you very much.
