Mark Kmiecik
Calling on the usual crowd to either confirm or refute my meager attempts at identification. I'm not sure on any of these three. @bigred97 @connorp @deutscheben @fiddlehead @flipper559 @Nimravis @RCFossils @stats @TheRocksWillShoutHisGlory I truly appreciate your input. Thank you in advance for taking a look. And anyone else who would like to offer an opinion -- thank you as well. Edited March 8, 2022 by Mark Kmiecik adjust photo Mark. Mark Kmiecik
I took another look at E0112 and I think it more closely fits the description of Neuropteris vermicularis. If anyone can confirm that it is or isn't I would appreciate it. Thank you. Edited March 12, 2022 by Mark Kmiecik Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them! Plantguy
Mark, very nice specimens! I wish could help but I havent gone thru Jack's descriptions in the new book. Perhaps you've already done this but make a checklist of point by point for each. I looked and I dont recognize all the terms but start with the simple ones like count of vein description/splits and vein per cm to see if there is anything glaring to help distinguish them in your specimen. Having looked at all the Neuropterids I almost want to build a spreadsheet for each of the different species/features..maybe when I retire that would be fun to do...cause my memory is gone once I turn the page. Hoping someone more versed can easily sort this out for you. Regards, Chris
