themanicjuggler
Found what looks like to me like a tail of some crustacean in Saltwick Bay a few years ago. It's about 3 inches long, and the surface detail is incredibly well preserved. Was wondering if anyone has found anything similar, or knows what kind of crustacean it could have come from?

FossilDAWG
Fantastic find! . I think that one would be worth a professional prep job. Don
TqB
Very nice! Checking in Alan Lord(Ed.) 2019, "Fossils from the Lias of the Yorkshire Coast", I think it's a species of the lobster Coleia. I have a damaged, unfinished one from the same area that may be the same, not as nice as yours! They're usually tricky to prep. You can't use air abrader with arthropods from these nodules as any medium strong enough to remove the matrix destroys the cuticle. So it needs very careful pneumatic pen work. Mark Kmiecik
Very nice find. Personally, I wouldn't mess with it to expose the maybe 10% that is hidden in the matrix. Unless you're an experienced prepper you'll probably mess up a great find. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them! LiamL
That's a beautiful example. Personally i'd leave it as it is. I quite like the as found look on some pieces. 2 Yorkshire Coast Fossil Hunter
