AmINutz
It's a long story. Found it 40 yrs ago in Idaho on a hike behind my parent's home. Parent's died, found it with the other rocks we had collected over the years. Does anyone think it is anything? It weighs at least 15lbs. A bit smaller than a volleyball. Fossildude19
Interesting rock, but no fossils, I'm afraid. 1 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Tidgy's Dad
This would seem to be a lump of rock with quartz veins. The thick veins at the ends have prevented the softer limestone(?) from eroding away completely, but it's still softer than the quartz. 2 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. AmINutz
Thank you! You have just set my heart free. I had my siblings send this from Idaho to IL because I was certain it needed to be checked. I hadn't gotten around to that between covid and grandkids. I was using it as a weight in a milk cooler. The milkman picked up the cooler not knowing the rock was inside. The rock fell out of the cooler into the truck bed. At the next delivery, he threw the cooler and the rock in a dumpster--you can't keep contaminated products in the food vehicles. I've been so stressed thinking I might have let the world down by preventing a major discovery. I really appreciate this. I am sad, though, that I lost my rock. Thank you.
