can someone help ID this fossil?

A person found this fossil and ask the Natural History Museum of Cal Poly Humboldt where I work, if it is a fossil of a dinosaur egg. With my limited knowledge I said that it is mostly like a coral because of the texture. It would be appreciated to see what this group thinks.

Please could you either post higher resolution photographs or close ups of the surface detail? 

And include a ruler for scale? Where did they find it?  

Could be a coral.

I'm in the coral/bryozoan camp, due to the seemingly branched areas in the circle:

I agree, probably syringoporid coral from what I can see of the internal structure here and there (concentric rings which indicates funnel shaped tabulae).

Definitely NOT an egg. I concur with the coral ID.
