I bought this Keichousaur fossil online recently, before discovering this forum and finding out that fake fossils are common, and Keichousaur are commonly faked or embellished.

I did have concerns that this may have been fake, though I think I've managed to work that out myself now thanks to a handily available xray machine. Still, confirmation would be nice and I thought this may be of interest.

It is claimed to have come from Fuyuan County, Pengjiang, Yunnan, China

This is a genuine Keichousaurus, in its "natural form", without prepping.  The plate was broken and glued back but otherwise the specimen looks good.  Fuyuan is a locality with good quality Keichousaurus and Triassic fish, the matrix there is usually of a finer texture.
