hi, i went walking in the north east of england and found this, it looked to be a fish jaw? i’m new to fossil collecting and finding as a hobby and i could be completely wrong but if anyone knows anything could you let me know? thanks :) it was found in a beck/stream, not directly on a coastline. could this be a fish jaw? or small animal jaw?

To me, this looks like a cross section through a water worn crinoid stem or through an orthocone cephalopod shell.

Cross section of crinoid stem:

Tim's right with crinoid. :) It'll be Carboniferous from there and has a typical form with a wide lumen (hollow down the middle).

This is a pebble of Carboniferous crinoidal limestone.IMG_3268.thumb.jpeg.27a8222c8113a0a285cb41725f34adad.jpeg

For me, this image shows the fossil curving back around on the side of the stone, so i don't think it's crinoid or cephalopod.

I think the remains of a brachiopod or bivalve valve. with associated shell fragments.

My first impression was of a very eroded brachiopod, but I’m not at all familiar with the fauna from the location, so....
