MarcoSr Posted April 20 Share Posted April 20 Wow, what an incredible reference site. Are fossil crabs identified solely by the carapace features, or do the claws and legs also help with the ID? Marco Sr. Bottom, the sternopleonal (ventral) features of the crab, are more diagnostic at familial level than the carapace, and yes, they are very good for an accurate identification.
