I have my doubts about this one. Some of the Triassic fish coming out of Yunnan are very convincingly 3D printed (particularly Asialepidotus sp.). Perhaps some of our fish experts can weigh in on this.

This looks real to me, but unfortunately, I know little about Chinese fishes.

I am very sure that the fish is real. If you look at the scales, you can see cracks and cavities. Looks very much like an Asialepidotus  or a close relative to me.

Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes (Confucius, 551 BC - 479 BC).

Thanks, gents. Apologies to the OP for suggesting it might not be authentic, but a dose of healthy skepticism never hurts, and glad we have the experts on hand to confirm this is the real deal. :)

With fossils from China you should always look twice before you buy some - I have burned my fingers enough times.

As Kane rightly said: a healthy dose of skepticism never hurts. And asking in the forum beforehand is always a good idea.

The left part of the slab is certainly repaired.

Left part, you mean the head of fish is fake or just the slab is once broken and stick again?

Slab looks like it fell apart and was repaired. Head of fish may be missing some small bits due to this, but overall is very nice.

The fish appears to be complete - I don't see any major repairs there. The left side of the slab looks a bit strange - like someone smeared something there to hide the repair of the slab.

After seeing what oilshale has said and looking at it more closely, this is a really cool fish.
