A cool rock or a fossilized tooth?

Hi!

Can't believe it's been five years since my last post on this forum!

My husband found this interesting object while digging in Troy, NY (it snapped in half when he was cleaning it).

Could it be a fossilized mammal's tooth?

Thanks!

No enamel or other tooth morphology, I'm afraid.

Seems to be sandstone, possibly an infilling.
