Driveway Rock Bone

Crystallized bone found in northeast central Texas driveway. Anyone know what it was? I find the lobar look, striations, and the small circular structures ringing the edge of the ?bone interesting. I included the picture of the proximal and distal picture to show they can be seen going all the way thru the fossil. Please educate me about this baby. Thanks.

Looks like some quartzite rock to me, but I’m no expert. It doesn’t have cancellous tissue inside like a bone would either. So, ordinary rock would be my guess unfortunately.

Calcite rudist mold?

As Tim mentioned, this looks like a rudist, but replaced by quartz. "Driveway" rock in Central Texas is often made of crushed Edwards Limestone.  Quartz and rudists are very common in those rocks.

 

Do a Forum search on rudist to see the many forms they take.
