I recently acquired a bunch of matrix from the Cloverly Formation of Carbon County, Montana. And came across a few scutes. I’m not fully sure if they are turtle, crocodile, or maybe both, which is why I thought I’d share them here.

Not at all sure about the one on the left but the one on the right looks right for croc.

it might be a skull/jaw piece.  Can we see a view of the broken edges and the back side?

Not sure if you were talking about the right or left piece so I took photos of the side and back of both.

the light brown one seems to have crocodile texture on both sides suggesting it is indeed apiece of skull... edge of squamosal bone perhaps.
