ClearLake
Well, it could be one of the species of Busycon but it cant be B. contrarium, it spirals the wrong way for that. @MikeR will know

HuckMucus
Would the same species spiral in the opposite direction below the equator?
Coco
I don’t think the position in relation to the equator can change anything in the direction of winding the shell. In many species there are "contra-senses" of winding, much like left-handed versus right-handed humans. My comparison is fair to show that this is just a difference in a species that can be repeated (I would like to be sure to be well understood and that there is no ambiguity of discrimination around right or left-handers). @MikeR Coco Edited May 11, 2022 by Coco 1 ---------------------- OUTIL POUR MESURER VOS FOSSILES : ici Ma bibliothèque PDF 1 (Poissons et sélaciens récents & fossiles) : ici Ma bibliothèque PDF 2 (Animaux vivants - sans poissons ni sélaciens) : ici Mâchoires sélaciennes récentes : ici Hétérodontiques et sélaciens : ici Oeufs sélaciens récents : ici Otolithes de poissons récents ! ici Un Greg...
