Oxford clay - enamel - tooth or scale?

This has enamel, and is the colour I associate with fish remains. Enamel made me think dentition or scale of some kind, but I'm puzzled by the shape.

It has a couple of prominent tubercles, which made me think teeth or scale. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what it could be, but maybe it's a part of a crab? :headscratch:

Thank you both, I hadn't considered crab, I think I was distracted by the colour. I will try and work out which decapod part this might be.

I hadn't considered that, it would be shiny, and although I haven't seen any more at the site, I think it's perfectly likely there would have been some there.

I've tried to photograph it again in more natural light (me sat by a window) and side on, it's definitely brown, but I think slag can be.

it does look slag like in natural light particularly on the one side,    still it might be interesting to try to clean it a bit to look for to if the crab like pieces will separate out.
