Show Us Your Biggest Megalodon Tooth

Rock Hound

5.25 inches, or 13.335 cm; on the longest side.  It has belonged to my father, for many years now; and he recently gave it to me.  It's a cherished specimen.

I bought this back in the early 90's.  Still have it even though I was offered a small fortune for it just a few years ago.  Just over 6".

No reason to be sad.  Enjoy what you have; and also know that there are a few dealers online, who have some reasonable prices on large teeth that aren't museum grade.  The price climbs at 5 inches plus, and then really climbs at 6 inches plus.  7 inches plus, are the teeth of fame and fortune.

Thanks, but I'm not big on buying fossils, the ones found or gifted to me mean more.

Another pic of my Meg:

These are my only very best Megs, both found at Lee Creek.  They have been posted on TFF, before.. The tooth on the right was found on September 22, 1995.  It was a cold dreary rainy day and the tooth was sitting almost completely exposed on a pedestal. I guess thanks to the rain. After finding this I didn't mind the rain.  I didn't have a poncho that day either.  The tooth on the left on found on October 3, 1998.  It was a lucky find, since it was almost completely buried in the ground. Only a small amount of the root was exposed, then I saw a little bit of enamel showing.  After digging the tooth out, with a nearby broken shell,  that tooth on the left, (On my overnight trips I do keep some notes on occasion).  The ruler is in millimeters.

Nice teeth, and you found 2 of them too!!!  They look as if they came from the same individual.  Look at the lines and the overall profile.  Nice.

Our biggest is an Oceanic North Carolina Meg that is a hair over 6” on the short slant and just over 6 1/4” on the longer slant. It’s pretty wide too. Basically it’s a monster tooth lol

Just imagine the big ol' school bus, that used to haul that tooth around and put it to use every day!!!  It was a chompasaurus!!!

That tooth is getting reasonably close, to the almost mythical 7" mark.  It's impressive, for sure.

This isn't my biggest, but it's my favorite "big" tooth.

Lee Creek is my favorite location for shark teeth, so I was very happy to add this one to my collection.
