Jlpettry1972
I've been searching for 3 months now to figure this out. I'm not very knowledgeable. Please be kind. It caught my eye, took it home, and cleaned it up.
Lone Hunter
Pictures aren't clear enough to make out anything, what makes you think it's a fossil?
Jlpettry1972
Hi Lone Hunter. I'm not sure it's a fossil. I have been searching and looking at A LOT of sites and pictures. I have no clue. Just curious. If it's not a fossil, might you have an idea?
Lone Hunter
Not without better pictures I'm afraid.
Fossildude19
Back off of the item a bit when taking pictures. (The rug is in focus, the item is not. ) Try taking pictures outside in daylight/natural light. I see two bits that look like fish bone or scales in this. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." digit
Agreed that better focused photos taken outdoors in good sunlight would help. For now, it kinda looks like a piece of limestone with a cherty (silicified) area that is more amber in color. Cheers. -Ken

Jlpettry1972
Thank you all for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it. I was racking in the yard ( about 5 miles inland of Florida's Gulf coast. I will definitely repost better pictures from outside like you have suggested. Plus, a 2nd picture of another find the same day.
