The best tools for cleaning dust and rock from artifacts are Chisels and Brushes , and what to do when the conditions are wet ?

For me, totally depends on fossil and matrix. If fragile i may wait until it dries completely then use brush and dental picks. If they are solid then it's a water bath and brush. Best to test on a "trash" piece to confirm that the water won't make the matrix and specimen fall apart as some rock.looks solid but will quickly disintegrate if wetted after drying out
