Fossil Maniac
Hello! I saw this Dicaranarus monstrosus fossil online, I want to know if it's authentic or not. Thank you for any help!
Sjfriend
I think we'll need brighter and closer photos. I can't make out any details on my monitor 2
aeon.rocks
Some of it is real, but seems there's a lot of paint (to cover the scribe marks and possible resto (i.e. some spines seem restored)). Better photos would be needed to say more. Edited June 2, 2022 by aeon.rocks 1
Tidgy's Dad
If dealers are supplying photos with no resolution and no close ups, I leave well alone. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
RJB
Yep, need better closeups pics for sure. I bought some of these back about 25 years ago when I was still learning lots of stuff about fossils. The ones I bought turned out to be only partially real and then added onto with resin or something. I never bought any more. I do wish you the best of luck though.
