Heath5916
So when I first found this I was thinking fossilized wood, but after washing it I'm not so sure. Any ideas? Found on Dans mountain, allegheny county, lonaconing maryland
FranzBernhard
Welcome to TFF from Austria! I don´t think that any of your suggested materials is "preserved": wood, bone or coral. The items look like some sort of "sediment". That said, the shape is very intriguing and the specimens are the molds of something! But I have no idea, I can also not exclude some man-made stuff, hence the "" around sediment! Second pic, rightmost specimens shows some striations. Would you like to post this specimens individually, including good shoots of the end? Anyways, local members may recognize your specimens at a glance . Franz Bernhard yes I was just thinking the first and last piece looked like extruded clay ready for coiling a pot or bowl. This would be my guess, one looks like it might have a glaze on it as well?
