A little late, May 7, 2022 DSR Hunt

Earlier in the beginning of the year, I was asked by one of my club members to lead our Syracuse club on a field trip to DSR. The member who asked is a longtime member of the Syracuse club as well as one in Pennsylvania, which is were he resides. The plan was I would lead the Syracuse members and he would bring the Pennsylvania members on the same day. We decided on May 7th. I realize that I am a bit late posting this report, so please forgive me. Been busy.

It turned out to be a great day weather wise. I brought my youngest son Devin, even though his plan was to look for snakes. We met the local members at our clubhouse at 8 am and arrived first to the quarry about 9:30. The PA. Group showed up a bit later. Forum member @Al Tahan showed up with his cousin and her daughter. In all there was around 20 fossilhunters. From here I will let the pictures do the talking.

Unfortunately I did not get pictures of all the good finds but I was to busy trying to find my own as well as chat with others and answer questions.(and crack jokes and talk people's ears off):D. But all in all it was a great day hanging with friends and meeting new ones. As you can see Devin did good on his snake quest. I think he found 5 total.

I am looking forward to going back!

I was going to elaborate more about that criniod but got sidetracked. One of the Syracuse club members named Tom found that. Unfortunately the rest was never retrieved but it was still a great piece. He also found  that Dipluera pygidium which is huge. I believe that the whole trilobite is in there. He spent alot of time digging out that chunk to prep at home. I am waiting patiently for results!

That crinoid looks impressive, even to someone who only knows that site from pics you guys post!  :TongueOut:

I do like the bivalves and everything else too, of course.

DSR continues to deliver the goods. The crinoid calyx is an incredible find for there. Thanks for sharing.

Nice newt -- a bit on the young side, but with time . . .

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Any update on that big dipleura tail and if it’s complete?  Reminds me of the big guy I found there last year!
