I got a box of micro matrix from PaleoCris - Bone Valley Formation from Florida and I am STUNNED by the beautiful colors and preservation! I knew Bone Valley stuff was good...but wow.  And he threw in some "extra" fossils of a nice big echinoid and a claw of some thing...maybe extinct armadillo. I still havn't gone through all the matrix, but wanted to show ya'll some of the nice stuff:

All are around 1/8 inch - 1/4 inch

This crazy Fish tooth plate - Labrodon sp.

I think this is Baracuda?

I love the little ray teeth  Rhynchobatus.  Sadly, this one leaped for freedom from my tweezers right after I photographed it. Gone gone.

A pretty blue one Rhibobatus sp.

Some Crab Claws

I hope I find a whole sting ray tail spine.

And of course...the SHARK TEETH! THE COLORS!

And I am in no way confident in my ID on these teeth, so if you see something ID'd wrong, please let me know.

Galeocerdo contortus

Unsure of the ID on this one. If you know it, please enlighten me!

First of all - absolutely gorgeous finds! I grabbed a bunch of material from a dig site in Bone Valley last time I was there and I can't wait to sift through it and see what I find!

I believe this tooth is also Galeocerdo contortus - but I know @digit mentioned being really good at micros, so perhaps he will know for sure!

Fossils? I dig it. :meg:

Yes, it is Barracuda.  I found a nice one Monday,  described in this thread.

It is painful to consider all the stuff that flows thru my quarter inch screen every hunting trip.... but it is a tradeoff.. More thorough searching of the screens takes more time and the hunter next to me with a 1/2 inch screen finds more bigger high quality fossils over time...

I feel like 1/2 inch screen is a little TOO big. Yes you find only the big stuff which I'm sure are awesome, but you'll miss the vast majority of teeth, of ray plates, etc. 1/4" feels like the perfect middle ground.

Fossils? I dig it. :meg:

that's the great thing about micro matrix. Out in the field, I'll only look for larger fossils, but always bring home a gallon baggie of the little gravel or dirt and boom....a whole new hunting experience of the tiny tiny stuff.
