abyssunder
Welcome to the forum! Not sure about this, but it looks like a Prunus seed case, to me. I think, if I'm not wrong, it could be modern. digit
There is always the flame test to determine if something is fossilized (mineralized) or merely very solid and dense yet modern. If you have access to a lighter (those long "stick lighters" work quite well for this) you can pass the item in question through the flames with increasing duration. If you note any charring or can detect any smells then that would indicate something of biological composition that is recent and not mineralized. A fully mineralized (fossilized) object will have had any of its proteins/carbohydrates degraded and replaced with minerals and should not produce any detectable odor. We do this frequently with bones of questionable age. The collagen protein still present in modern bone will give off the horrible smell of burning protein indicating its non-fossil status. Haven't tried the test too often with vegetable matter but when I did the charring and discoloration was quickly apparent. Cheers. -Ken
doushantuo
Phenology-wise,one would have to go with Prunus endocarp.
