Found this literally right on the summit of Pen y fan in south wales in a scree pile. Have had a bit of a research and everywhere says fossils are very rare in this type of old red sandstone... does anybody have any ideas? Its about 3cmx3cm. Well aware it could just be a rock... Cheers!DSC_0019.thumb.JPG.21b2564df85c105a9fd534bb92600dfb.JPGDSC_0022.thumb.JPG.f24f34ee066a6035de2bdd813caf3223.JPGDSC_0015.thumb.JPG.1e90c635eb22aef80617b6da25388728.JPG

This is good. It's what I see here.

Show me a eurypterid fossil with this texture and I'll give it a maybe.

One of the strong mitigating factors that suggests this is not a eurypterid is that they generally do not occur this robust; they typically occur nearly as a film, or some modest raise (but not this much). I'm not seeing anything diagnostic here to suggest eurypterid. I am thinking this is a nodule or a weathered piece of sandstone.

I'd bet my grandma's last nickle that this is a rock.  Sorry man.

Not seeing any kind of fossil here, unfortunately.  :(

It looks like a ferruginous concretion, to me.
