fossilwonderer
Found these in Maryland at Flag Ponds State Park which is known for it's abundance of marine fossils. I think the lighter colored piece is some sort of reptile (maybe alligator or turtle) skin? The black piece seems to be a some sort of fossilized reptile skin? Seeking expertise or thoughts, thanks! Al Dente
This one is a piece of a sand dollar. 2
Fossildude19
This looks like a piece of shell, to me. Definitely not any kind of reptile skin, though. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Your sand dollar is probably a piece of Abertella. Here is a whole one where you can see similar plates. 3

Mahnmut
Hi Fossilwonderer and welcome to the forum. if it is Abertella, then roughly between 3 million and 30 million years, as Abertella occured from late Oligocene to Miocene. I am not familiar with your region of the world, but I think you could find somewhat more information by looking up the place you found it. shark57
As Al Dente said, this is a piece of sand dollar. The exact species name is Albertella alberti, and it is from the Choptank formation 12 to 13 million years old. When I first found pieces like yours when I was much younger I also thought they were pieces of turtle shell.
