Flea Market Fish

Recommended Posts

Hi gang - My fiancé’s mom came across a fossil fish at a flea market and she ended up getting it. She sent me a picture asking about its species and where it’s from, but I haven’t a clue. Any ideas? Thanks!

Green River fish for sure.

Possibly Knightia eocaena  or  Gosiutichtys parvus.

What is the size of the fish?

Usually, under 3 inches it Gosiutichthys, over 3 inches it will be a Knightia.

Awesome! Wondered about knightia, but it looks different from most I’ve seen. Size is somewhere in the range of 2.5” to 3”

Barret,

Have a look at this post - you can do the counts.

I think it is a Gosiutichthys.
