Tales From the Shale
Some of the blastoids I picked up while in Michigan awhile back. I'm not sure of their identities, however I imagine it wouldn't be hard with some effort.
connorp
Nice. Are these from the Alpena area?
Tales From the Shale
Yes, all from Alpena, in two different sites.
FossilNerd
Nice! I am rather fond of blastoids, as you can tell from my Avatar picture.
crinus
The two big one are Placoblastus obovatus. The other three are Heteroschisma subtrunctatum The single one is a Hyperoblastus sp. I can't tell the species from the pics. Joe

Joe Thank you, I figured out the smaller ones might have been Heteroschisma, but was lost on some of the larger ones, as they don't look like any others I've found.
crinus
FYI. There is current work in progress that will make Placoblastus obsolete. It will become Nucleocrinus. Sometimes I have difficulty with both both genera from Alpena. Both are found there and sometime small Placoblastus look like Nucleocrinus. Yours are a bit weather worn so I assigned them to Placoblastus simply because of the size.
crinus
You mentioned that you found them at two different sites. Is one of the Heteroschisma from the other site. It looks a bit different and may be a different species. Obviously most of the material is from PP. What is the other site? Joe
