Pleuromya
Hello, I recently visited Bawdsey, UK. I found this footprint-like object and was wondering what it could be? There is an almost scale-like pattern at the bottom of it. I found loose amongst other rocks and the Eocene London Clay is exposed at Bawdsey. The footprint-like depression is 5cm across. Thank you. JohnJ
It may be the cavity left where a pyrite nodule eroded out. 1 2 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ

I think this is just an oddly shaped, water worn rock. Aside from a general shape, it doesn't appear to be a footprint. 1 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Pleuromya
Just now, JohnJ said: It may be the cavity left where a pyrite nodule eroded out. Thanks, that would make sense, the pyrite nodules I collected all had the same scale-like pattern.
