Possible fossils found in Dubrovnik, Croatia

Hi, I am new to this forum, so please excuse my total ignorance on the topic of fossils. I have always loved them, but don’t know much about them.

I am currently staying in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and found some weird looking stones with dotted patterns. I am aware that this could just be a bunch of random dots, but it looks like a creature of some sort, in my opinion. One of them looks like it has legs as well. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks!

Welcome to TFF from Texas!  I'm not going to be of any help though,  not sure if those are molds of something or feeding traces maybe, I think I see crinoid stem segments but someone familiar with your area will give you better ID.

These have been in the ocean so sponge borings make sense. Note marine coiled “worm” tubes.

I agree, these are examples of bioerosion, common on limestone coasts. Sponges are just one potential maker, these ones may have been made by cyanobacteria.

yes yes, that's what a type of sponge does, it lives in the canals it creates and dissolves.. Here you will find a lot of such rocks, this is probably a smaller part of a once larger stone.. Cheers !

There are clionaid borings ( Entobia isp.) on the surface of the carbonate pebbles. Nice examples! :)
