Petrified wood?

Wondering if this is petrified wood and if so, what would cause the strange texture?  Found in north central Nebraska where I have found many other pieces that actually look like wood. I don't see indications that would pin it down as definitely being wood, but it seems more likely than not. If the area it was found is known for petrified wood it might be a safe call.

Here’s a piece I found in the same area that’s definitely petrified wood. Has some of the same coloration and texture as the other piece. C913EAC6-A3F2-40E3-AD06-1F0D33E291D7.thumb.jpeg.fe7afecdddd4b5c47df1cac3f4d000b9.jpeg

Studying a polished facet under magnification would likely help with identification.
