Found in some Paleozoic chalk and limestone gravel along with crinoids and brachiopods.

Would depend on the age of the material. There were some large ones in the Ordovician that were that size.

Thanks for the response! What else (other than more preserved details) would help identify this? If it’s not an ostracod or not even a fossil, what could it be?

Without more detail, it could anything from a bivalve steinkern to a xenolith.
