Gorgosaurus Skeleton on display in New York City

Can you imagine how many brachiopods I could get for that?

Several, at least.

Only several? I feel like you could get thousands... :P

I could purchase some land in the White River Badlands with that much money... Ever since I learned about the White River Badlands it has been my dream.

Thank you for sharing, Adam! That dinosaur is very gorgosaurus!

That has to be a record at $79k per bone.  Articles I've read indicated that Sotheby's said it had 79 bone elements.  Not sure how many bones there are in a Gorgo but T rex has at least 380 so Gorgo being a Tyrannosaurid should not be significantly different.    :s_cry:

I am sure there are some pretty amazing brachiopods out there! I am not super interested in brachiopods, but I do find some of them really cool.

Jesus, is Gorgo much rarer than T. rex? I'm surprised it sold for a higher price relative to # of bones, considering the T. rex aura.

Speaking of which, another part of the article that caught my eye was this:

"Other natural history items up for auction on Thursday include a complete T-rex rooted tooth, which sold for just over $100,000"

Is that for real, six figures for a tooth? I know T.rex is the king of breaking banks but wow.

It's just popularist. Of course people are willing to pay stupid money for big teeth and the dinosaurs from our childhood.

Many people never grow up and want to fulfill their childish fantasies.

Some of these people are rich.

Fair play to them, they can do what they want with their own money.

But my bet is that we'll never see the specimen again.

I know I’ve grown up lol.

I have this piece which is described as being a Gorgosaurus partial femur from Red Deer Valley, nr. Drumheller, Alberta, Canada.
