MrsMojoRisin
Found this during a trip to Big Brook in Marlboro, NJ. Looks like it could be a fossil from a turtle but am not 100% sure. Please help!
Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Looks like a septarian nodule, to me. Lots of concretions and nodules in the brooks. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." IsaacTheFossilMan
+1 for a septarian nodule! Under first look, they can look very reptilian like a scute. 1 ~ Isaac; www.isaactfm.com "Don't move! abyssunder
When I had found something similar to your find I had the same feeling about turtle. I agree with the others that it could be a rock with septarian propagation cracks. jpevahouse
Big brook is a wonderland of concretions which look like fossils. Of course there are plenty of authentic fossils to be found but there are many more naturelly formed mineral concretions.
