Hello there! I found this "Bone/Fossil?" on the beach in Longs SC. Any help with the identification or classification of this would be fantastic!

Probably an ammonite partition.

Where was it found? I don't think of the coastal SC deposits as having much cretaceous or older material.

Yeah it looks like the pieces of ammonite i've seen - but this is the first I'm hearing about SC having material that old.

I think we might have an answer:

 

"[cretaceous echinoid at Myrtle beach] .... These come out of the Upper Cretaceous PeeDee formation, which is sometimes dredged offshore and used for beach replenishment."

Yes it was in Myrtle beach right outside of Longs!
