Donation of Pristis sp. Spine to NJSM

Recommended Posts

Several months ago (February 2022), I completed my donation of a large Pristis sp. spine to the New Jersey State Museum (NJSM) in Trenton, NJ. I collected this specimen from the Eocene and Miocene deposits of New Jersey some months earlier. Rodrigo Pellegrini and co. were excited to receive the find and display it in what I believe is an exhibit on the sharks and fishes of the NJ's Eocene and Miocene (I have not confirmed that this exhibit has occurred, nor have I visited the museum recently).

Attached below is the find, along with a photo of my other finds from that outing. When I have the chance in a few days (and if I remember), I will include a photo of the plaster cast I received.
