Schuylkill County Pennsylvania fern trip

Hello everyone!

 

I had a fun a really fun trip last weekend with some friends, including @Jeffrey P. We hit a fern ferns spots I've found over the years, and got access to another spot I never explored..

 

overall, it was a good trip with good friends. Here are my favorite finds...

Frank collected some wonderful fern plates as you can see. Those Pecopteris are real exquisite! Congratulations. And that bark piece, I wish I could have snagged some of that. Here are a couple Alethopteris plates that I found.

And finally, a couple nice Neuropteris leaves (about three inches long) from a site near Pottsville, but the same formation:

 

Overall, a couple great days collecting with wonderful company.

Great finds both of you!! 

 

I went fossil hunting in the same area today and last week, and found similar ferns.  I make it a point visit my llewellyn sites at least ounce or twice a year with the kids.

I found one of these too and threw it on fossil ID but didn't get anything definitive.. I'm not familiar with any fern experts in our area...
