Hi there. Wondering if anyone can help with this.
strange story:

Found it in a fossilized ash beach- and it had clear impressions on the exterior of suction cups kinda shapes. However the substrate wasn’t stable and was kinda falling apart over time. so… I put it in my kiln to IDK see if it would turn into a ceramic.  Instead the top blew off and revealed a similar shaped but non aligned actual fossil.

any help with ID appreciated!

Welcome to the forum ... Lots of smart people with different expertise....

Lucky !  Lucky !!! Lucky .  You did some slightly dangerous prep  and came out smelling like a rose. Being a gambler,  I have always preferred luck to skill...

I can not help the ID, but will be watching this thread...

Looks like parts from a sea urchin.

The five sided structure with the knob in the center held an urchin spine. The long structure is also part of an urchin.

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.

Thanks!  Is “cidarad” the official name?  Appreciate the quick response

Yes, only it's spelled cidarid.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Cidarid is the recognized short form for all echinoidea belonging to the order Cidaroida, in other words, regular sea urchins. It is not a species or genus name if that's what you are looking for.
