Is this petrified bog wood?

Hi, does anyone know if this is a petrified bog wood, the exposed part is really smooth.  The 3 pictures are, the front which looks like it was long ago broke off from the main part, the bottom part was machine cut to expose it and the 3rd picture is the skin of this piece.  Most of my items like this come from Estate sales from around 20 years ago so I think someone displayed this in their cabinet and needed a flat bottom.

Thanks

Was it hard to cut?  It looks like a form of chert.  I don't think it is "bog wood".

Hi John, I don't know how tough it was cutting, it was cut over 20 years ago or much longer than that by someone else.  I got this from the Redondo Rock Shop estate sale around 20 years ago  It didn't have a tag or name attached.  I think Chert is a good answer, it does look like some I see on the internet.

Thanks

You need near microscopic photos of wood structures to say that it is wood; I can’t see any wood now. Wood/bog wood can also be chert at the same time which is a name for microcrystalline quartz.

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

The rock shop in Redondo Beach, California?  If it was across from the pier in Redondo Beach that was the shop my family owned, but we sold it more like 30 years ago.
