Member of the Month - September 2022 - Mark Kmiecik

The sound of crickets and the blooming of the rose of sharon signal an end to BBQ season in some parts of the world. Thoughts now turn to shorter, crisper days of autumn, back to school, trading flip flops for shoes.

It is my distinct honour to present this month's crown to:

Mark has been with us for a number of years now, and has truly grown into his role around here. We know him best for all his Mazon Creek finds during some very active years of collecting. We also know him for his kindness, support, encouragement, and informative posts. That, and his exquisite photography in his Mazon creek album that is bar none among the very best (have a look here).

Mark, this is your month, and I feel honoured to present this award to you seeing how much you have grown with us. As the stage is all yours, please do spin us a yarn about your fossil experiences and in how you ended up with us.

Wow! I never expected this. I don't feel like I've done anything to deserve it. The way things were going when I first came on board I thought I would be booted out in a hurry. Ask admin -- they'll back me up on that one. My internet is kind of goofy right now, so I'll tell my fossil story and how I found TFF when I'm sure the internet won't eat what I type.

Again, thank you all.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Some people are quick change artists. ;) You finally got your footing and we're happy to have someone else with a good amount of experience in the wonderful Mazon Creek fauna/flora.

Cheers.
