Amanda88
Was hiking a trail in nw New Mexico and kicked this. Strange weight, shape, texture for a rock. Bumpy all over with holes in each end. Anyone know what it is?
Fossildude19
Photos are a bit too dark and blurry to see any detail. Try taking photos in daylight, outside. Harry Pristis
It reminds me of a crinoid calyx. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
Amanda88
It IS hollow, has a similar texture/pattern but doesn’t have the same shape as your photo. Thanks for the info!
Rockwood
1 hour ago, Amanda88 said: doesn’t have the same shape I don't think the exact shape was suggested. Crinoids had may different shapes that were similar. It's possible that preservation could be an issue, or it could just be a suggestive shape.
Amanda88
I’ve looked for similar shapes and found this illustration. Very interesting!
