Northwest New Mexico-is it a fossil?

Was hiking a trail in nw New Mexico and kicked this.  Strange weight, shape, texture for a rock.  Bumpy all over with holes in each end. Anyone know what it is?image.thumb.jpg.5b4fbdd8437a32acdf0a6022e8da3267.jpg

Photos are a bit too dark and blurry to see any detail.

Try taking photos in daylight, outside.

I don't think the exact shape was suggested. Crinoids had may different shapes that were similar. It's possible that preservation could be an issue, or it could just be a suggestive shape.
