Look what I found look look it’s as big as my head

It weighs 22 lbs and I found it on short sand beach. I was told by a ranger I could have it so no one come for me 

:ighappy:  am trying to figure out what kind of tree it is and maybe Miocene era? Seems to be what others found nearby are labeled.

I am not so sure it is petrified wood. To me it looks more like it could be coral or maybe just a rock? I think the ring type things might be a little too far apart for wood. Here is a pic of petrified wood:

Is the look of the banding texture roughly the same as you follow it around the rock?

If it was wood, there would be a distinct change in the look of the bands on the "end grain" versus the "long grain".  Look at the board in your photo.  It looks very different on flat surfaces of the long grain than it does on the end of the board.  

 

This looks more like metamorphic rock or banded chert.
