Amanda074
Hi. Is this Possibly a fossil Coral? Found in Middle Ga, Extremely hard. It has a Greenish Color to it that isnt really coming threw in the photos. The last Photo is before I cleaned it extremely well.
daves64
Looks like it could be concrete that's been poured around a pole (maybe a sign post). 3 Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties. Ludwigia
I'm tending to agree with Dave. What were the circumstances of your find? Buried? On open land? From an outcrop? digit
That big smooth curved section bothered me as well. I was wondering if this might have been cement as well from the base of a fence or other metal post. Cheers. -Ken
FossilArtwork
Looks like concrete that hardened partially around a plastic bag.

From an outcrop? I found it digging a hole at about a foot deep in a Backyard with nothing else around it was very odd to me as well. I was digging the whole to put a 4 by 4 in cement for a storage building. As soon I I saw it I was sure it was some sort of bone but when I got home and cleaned in I started to think the same thing that is was concrete but it's not like concrete at aleast none that I know of and I work in construction. That doesn't mean there isn't some kind of Crete i have never seen. I decided to get my Dremal out and my many diffrent grinding bits sanding wheels and see what I could find out about it and I expected it to react like concrete but it doesn't at all the grinding wheels would smooth a are but with a lot of work then it same areas turn into a clear crystal a couple mm thing then you can see similar material as the first. It has tiny crystals and stones even some tiny piece of what appear to be Coral. To get it smooth it takes a lot of force and what you can get off is like a waxy texture but it is only very little that comes off . It also smells like Burning hair some times when I'm grinding. I'm just a little more than lost with this. Also where there are lines that look like clearly fractures but when you look closely with a jewelry loupe you can see the cracks are filled with some kind of clear crystal or mineral. Also rock scratched a porcelain Tile when I tried to get a steak test. Also scratched the black stone I use for gold acid testing..
Ludwigia
Then I'm kinda stumped on this. Maybe someone who doesn't know much about making concrete mixed his own strange brew? Concrete is clearly out. I was thinking some sort of glass slag, but that is not soooo hard. Now I am thinking about a waste piece from electro-corundum fabrication... digit
Also need to explain why a random piece like this ends up on someone's backyard. Cheers. -Ken
mr.cheese
We use a type of waterproof concrete on our crazy golf course and it is exceptionally dense and doesn't react like normal crete either, when you try drilling it, it is like a waxy immovable object so could be specialist concrete of some kind? Also obviously shale is often used in the mix though it shouldn't be, also hair or fibrous strands to increase strength too, that is used in concrete printed drives over here a lot. I am leaning to some crazy homebrew concrete mixed by someone with some thing they 'got' from work!?

That's what I'm thinking now some kinda of weird heavy duty rubberized cement that is mix with crushed rocks that are very hard.
