Found this at an empty creek near Samoa Way in Roseville California. Plant Fossil or rock?

This looks like a layered concretion. Plant material is sometimes found in them, but I can't identify it as such from the evidence seen alone.

I don't see plant. But, keep looking! There is beautiful petrified wood to be found Roseville - Granite Bay.

It may have been organic material that the concretion formed around. Unfortunately, it probably decomposed too much before being fossilized to be identifiable -- that's if it is organic in the first place.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
