ChrisSarahRox
Found in a field near a rest area outside of Lordsburg NM and the area is still Hidalgo County NM and is still an area that is from the Maastrichtian epoch. Very suggestive shape and was curious as to how something like this forms.

FranzBernhard
It looks like differential weathering of two different rocks originally "attached" to each other. Franz Bernhard Edited November 5, 2022 by FranzBernhard
Rockwood
It's likely that these were originally adjacent layers of rock which were composed of minerals that had a different level of resistance to abrasion/erosion.
