Ita97
Hi, I am not an expert, so I decided to ask for help in this forum. My Dream is to buy real fossils so I found a website with some interesting fossils, a keichosaurus and three Megalodon teeth. Can you help me to recognise if they are real fossils or not? thank you very much!
rocket
hm, about the Megs, could you add close-ups of the serration? There is a guy how has really fantastic skills to reconstruct them and - in my opinion - the serration looks done and not real. The Keichou, I think there has been something done at the back-part, foot, tail, perhaps a little more but, all in all it looks 80% and a little up for me Edited November 8, 2022 by rocket

The Keichosaurus does not look like its in the best shape and it has poor preparation what destroyed parts of it. It also has some painted parts. The Megalodon tooth look good and real from Indonesia , just be aware of reconstructed root
Troodon
The crowns with the Megalodon teeth are great. If these are from Indonesia the roots typically show some or complete reconstruction. Difficult to make a call on some but the last two look bad. It's risky if your buying direct and would suggest looking at non Indonesian teeth or buying from a known US supplier.
rocket
I add two pics of a supergreat done 6.5"-Meg, but you see the serration has been done and carved. Really really good, indeed, a master´s work ! But done

I guess almost all fossil type are sometimes prepped to make them look more appealing, but serrations, its a no for me. However I believe the tooth above (Indo ones) are not carved serrations, it would not make much sense, price wise, and also they are no water or sea finds were the tooth is rounded because of the water

It is a 90%-real one, but the edges had been partly reconstructed. Bit like the T-Rex , 40% original but makes you a rich owner when you have one for sale .
