Hello there everyone! I found these in North Myrtle Beach, I think these are partial turtle shell fragments but would love a second opinion. Thanks in advance for any information!PXL_20221107_223102726.thumb.jpg.227f3518a29e9ef6a8ae65486b138e9d.jpgPXL_20221107_223059427.thumb.jpg.fd047253a684d1b704cc976c62d32bea.jpgPXL_20221107_223051952.thumb.jpg.d5ade34818333efe0445f9cc99825212.jpgPXL_20221107_223049078.thumb.jpg.3bcccd04b3ace884585a9061a603e7d5.jpgPXL_20221107_223047325.thumb.jpg.74c39d63351e554b52a68840d52f1c41.jpgPXL_20221107_223045319.thumb.jpg.ba1359c7e8d804d92f3be299b84a66b1.jpgPXL_20221107_223041665.thumb.jpg.a5fd58dd9e2b1218f70602af0b8963b7.jpgPXL_20221107_223035267.thumb.jpg.e5811d258030b2269b71d7dcb145e8c3.jpgPXL_20221107_223032053.thumb.jpg.843062d8e37230c460a6a893bc69b9fe.jpgPXL_20221107_223010749.thumb.jpg.949ff484a1d087b516e3f0eca168549e.jpgPXL_20221107_222952344.thumb.jpg.fd3b594fb6a33b2bf69fdce97c7bd62f.jpgPXL_20221107_222948026.thumb.jpg.58def68de22a1667b4ffa3d0640fa69d.jpgPXL_20221107_222944469.thumb.jpg.f1e8dd3598084ceab4bb6f990b0ea7bc.jpgPXL_20221107_222941864.thumb.jpg.90379676e2de53caf700fda5e4ea9466.jpgPXL_20221107_222934385.thumb.jpg.93b18fad4a84bdb47f0049e2d6a567c1.jpgPXL_20221107_222925952.thumb.jpg.6828fa8ffe67024a9e09e047439e7daa.jpgPXL_20221107_222916837.thumb.jpg.2e84895c4414595fa421c72ae6b65553.jpg

Sure look like turtle shell fragments to me, and I've seen quite a few!

As for whether its mineralized, I can't really tell from the photos. At this point I've gotten pretty good at judging from the weight in hand but that only came with a fair bit of experience. There are two simple tests you might try to figure this out. There's the "click" test; if you tap it against a rock does it have a high pitched "ting" or "click"? or does it have a duller, lower sounding "clunk"? I know that's a little bit subjective which is why I think not everyone is a fan of that method. Then there's also the flame test- more reliable in results but some folks worry about damaging the fossil or bone. If you subject a small area of it to a direct flame (like a cigarette lighter) does it produce a nasty odor or smell like burning hair?
