Possible brachiopod or something else?

Hey everyone,

As you can see here I have a piece of shale I broke in half, which revealed this brachiopod like shape. At first I thought it was dust but what's left here can't be brushed away any more. Looks to me like it's too symmetrical to be a natural formation, but I could use some input at to whether it's a fossil or not, thanks!

Conchoidal fracture, I think.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
