jnicholes
I found this in Twin Falls County, Idaho, near the spot where I found a lot of travertine with wood imprints. It did not look like much at first, but on closer inspection, I saw what looks like a whole bunch of tiny fossils, all grouped together. Any idea what it could be? Pictures are attached, The suspected fossil I’m referring to is located near my index finger. I had to really zoom in to get the picture. jnicholes
Update: I was able to extract a piece from the rock. A small piece. I took a look at it under my microscope. It’s definitely rock, but it was definitely living at one point. Looks like a plant of some kind.
TqB
It looks like calcified moss which is quite often found in tufa. It's a fine specimen. 2 5 Tarquin

Thanks for getting back. If you don’t mind me asking, what is tufa? Calcified moss, huh? The things you didn’t know!

The things you didn’t know! The Wikipedia article is fine. To quote from it, "Tufa deposits form an important habitat for a diverse flora. Bryophytes (mosses, liverworts etc.) and diatoms are well represented. The porosity of the deposits creates a wet habitat ideal for these plants." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tufa Tarquin
