A couple months ago I took a trip to collect in the Middle Devonian of Iowa. It was a pretty good trip. I found some nice stuff and chatted with some very nice folks. Here are a couple of my finds.

 

A partial ptyctodont tooth plate

A neat sponge. I believe the genus is Astraeospongia but please correct me if I'm wrong. I was told these are rare from this area.

Nice finds. I like the sponge, I've never found one from that quarry. I dissolved samples from many of the layers and found spicules in most. Here are a small assortment of examples. Some of these seem to match your specimen, while others do not.
